BG 13.25-26: Ways to realize the Supersoul

Written by divinemind

After introducing the Supersoul as the object of our knowledge (jñeyaṁ) and the Supreme transcendental Enjoyer (puruṣaḥ paraḥ), Krishna now delineates how one can perceive the presence of the Supersoul within one’s heart. Some (kecid) perceive (paśyanti) the Self [Supersoul] (ātmānam) within themselves (ātmani) with the self (ātmanā) through meditation (dhyānena), others (anye) through the yoga of analysis (sāṅkhyena yogena), and still others (cāpare) through the yoga of action (karma-yogena). (BG 13.25)

But (tu), there are others (anye) who, not knowing thus (evam ajānantaḥ), begin their worship (upāsate) upon hearing about the Supersoul from others (śrutvānyebhya). Dedicated to hearing (śruti-parāyaṇāḥ), even they (te ’pi) surely (eva) cross over (cātitaranty) death (mṛtyuṁ). (BG 11.26)
